To use WSU's Instant Messaging Service on Windows, Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) supports the Spark instant messaging client. To install Spark:
- Go to the Messaging Service's login page.
- Use your AccessID and password to log in.
- In the Account Information section on the right:
- Go down to the WSU Instant Messaging (IM) section.
- Click Win to download the IM Software you need.
- Save the file to your desktop.
- Double-click the Spark icon to begin the installation.
- Follow the Spark Setup Wizard instructions accepting the defaults offered you.
- On the Select Additional Tasks screen, decide if you want a shortcut and, if so, where you want it:
- on the desktop,
- on the Quick Launch toolbar (if you do not know what the Quick Launch toolbar is, we suggest you uncheck that selection),
- on both the desktop and the Quick Launch toolbar, or
- on neither.
- Click Next and watch the application install.
- When the installation is finished, make sure Run Spark is checked. Then click Finish to end the installation.
- Type your AccessID and its password in the Username and Password fields.
- Type messaging.wayne.edu in the Server field.
- Click Login .
