To use WSU's Instant Messaging Service on Windows, Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) supports the Spark instant messaging client. To install Spark:

1. Go to the Messaging Service's login page.
2. Use your AccessID and password to log in.
3. In the Account Information section on the right:
   1. Go down to the WSU Instant Messaging (IM) section.
   2. Click Win to download the IM Software you need.
   3. Save the file to your desktop.
4. Double-click the Spark icon to begin the installation.
5. Follow the Spark Setup Wizard instructions accepting the defaults offered you.
   1. On the Select Additional Tasks screen, decide if you want a shortcut and, if so, where you want it:
      • on the desktop,
      • on the Quick Launch toolbar (if you do not know what the Quick Launch toolbar is, we suggest you uncheck that selection),
      • on both the desktop and the Quick Launch toolbar, or
      • on neither.
   2. Click Next and watch the application install.
6. When the installation is finished, make sure Run Spark is checked. Then click Finish to end the installation.
7. Type your AccessID and its password in the Username and Password fields.
8. Type messaging.wayne.edu in the Server field.
9. Click Login .
