How do I upload a test, survey or pool in Blackboard using Respondus?

To Download the Blackboard 9.0 patch for Respondus
  1. Go to http://www.respondus.com/support/patches.shtml
  2. Click the Respondus 3.5.4m Patch link.
  3. Click the Download Responudus 3.5.4m Patch - Campus-wide Version link.
  4. Save the file to your computer.
Note: You must close Respondus before installing the patch.


To directly upload your assessment to Blackboard, use the following instructions:
  1. Open Respondus (after patching Respondus your current personality should read "Blackboard 6.3 - 9.x)"
  2. Click the Open button to open an file, then choose the file you wish to upload to Blackboard.
  3. Click the Preview & Publish tab
  4. Click the Publish to Blackboard button, located on the left side.
  5. Click the Publish Wizard button to run the wizard.
  6. In section 1, choose Publish to single course.
  7. In section 2, select - add new server - (if you already have a Blackboard server setup skip to step 13).
  8. Select Yes, check for preconfigured server settings,  then click Next.
  9. Enter a name to describe this Blackboard server (e.g. "My Bb Courses").
  10. Enter you login information for this Blackboard server, then click Next.
  11. Wait for Connection to be completed, then click Next.
  12. Click Finish to return to the Publish Wizard.
  13. Select desired Blackboard Server and click Next.
  14. Choose Course to publish to...
  15. Select a choice under Create or Replace Exam/Survey or Pool.
  16. Click Next.
  17. Wait for upload to be completed, then click Finish.


To manually upload your
assessment to Blackboard, use the following instructions:
  1. Open Respondus (after patching Respondus your current personality should read "Blackboard 6.3 - 9.x)"
  2. Click the Open button to open an file, then choose the file you wish to upload to Blackboard.
  3. Click the Preview & Publish tab
  4. Click the Publish to Blackboard button, located on the left side.
  5. Click the Publish Wizard button to run the wizard.
  6. In section 1, choose Save pool to local file for manual uploading then click Next.
  7. Click the Save As...button to choose a location on your computer to store the file.
  8. In section 2 choose the correct option e.g., Pool - no points, or Test with points (Blackbaord 7.2- 9.x only)
  9. Click Finish, you will see "Pool file successfully created"
  10. To upload your file into Blackboard, enter your Blackboard course site.
  11. Under Control Panel click Course Tools to expand the menu options.
  12. Click Tests, Surveys, and Pools
  13. Click the appropriate option (e.g., Tests, Surveys, or Pools)
  14. Click Import Test or Import Pool (the text will be based on your previous selection)

That's it, you will receive a Success receipt after the assessment has been uploaded.
