How do I set up my Apple iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 3 to synchronize to Wayne Connect using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync?

If you have an Apple iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 3 you can set it up to synchronize to Wayne Connect using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

Any existing contacts or calendar entries on your mobile device will be overwritten. It may take an extended period of time to download the desired data from Wayne Connect and, therefore, may not be immediately accessible from your mobile device.

NOTE: Be forewarned that if you are an iPhone user transferring a lot of data on AT&T’s network (this advisory does not apply to iPod touch users or for data transferred on a WiFi network, such as WSU, WSU-SECURE or a network you have set up at home) they may require you to move to the Business Data Plan. We have seen no evidence of them asking any iPhone user to do so, but we want our users to be aware of the possibility.

To set up your Apple iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 3 to synchronize to Wayne Connect using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync:
  1. From the home screen, tap the "Settings" button.
  2. Scroll down and tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
  3. Tap "Add Account".
  4. Tap "Microsoft Exchange".
  5. In the new screen:
    1. Type your e-mail address (either with your AccessID or E-mail Name in front of "@wayne.edu") in the "Email" field;
    2. Type "wayne.edu" in the "Domain" field;
    3. Type Your AccessID in the "Username" field;
    4. Type Your AccessID password in the "Password" field;
    5. Make sure your e-mail address in the "Description" field;
  6. Tap the "Next" button.
  7. Tap the "Accept" button if asked to accept a certificate.
  8. Then enter "connect.wayne.edu" in the new "Server" field.
  9. Tap the "Next" button.
  10. Tap the "ON" buttons for any services (Mail, Contacts, and/or Calendar) you would like to synchronize and then tap the "Done" button.
