How do I submit an assignment to my instructor through Blackboard?

There are several different methods instructors can use to collect assignments from students in Blackboard. Among these are the Assignments feature, and the SafeAssignment feature. Students should speak to their instructor(s) to find out if and how Blackboard will be used to submit assignments.

Assignments

Students complete the assignment by doing the following:

  1. Go to the content area where the assignment is located.
  2. Click the assignment name link.
  3. Attach a document using Browse for Local File, then you must click Attach File.
  4. Optional: Enter comments.
  5. Click Submit to turn-in the assignment.

SafeAssignments

Students submit a paper to SafeAssignment by doing the following:

  1. Go to the content area where the SafeAssignment is located.
  2. Click the >>View/Complete link.
  3. Optional: Enter comments.
  4. Attach a document using Browse....
  5. Click Submit to turn-in the assignment.
(Note: SafeAssign accepts files in .doc, .docx, .odt, .txt, .rtf, .pdf, and .html file formats only. Do not upload files in any other formats.)
